The LP5523TM/NOPB device is a versatile, programmable light engine for use in standard systems in the PMIC - LED Drivers application field. The device provides a high degree of flexibility to lighting designers and can be used to control strings of LEDs, or multiplexed arrays of LEDs, with up to twelve total output channels. With its simple and intuitive programming interface, this device can easily be incorporated into existing products, speeding time to market and reducing development time and cost.

The LP5523TM/NOPB can be used to drive multicolor LED arrays, with individual LEDs operating as low as 20 mA per channel in setup mode. In operation, the LED output current can be programmed up to 60 mA per channel. When driving LED strings, the current per LED is limited to the maximum channel capacity.

The LP5523TM/NOPB device includes a full-featured logic circuit to control on/off of LED strings and color mixing. The preprogrammed logic gates can be used to control LED strings and groups based on a combination of control input and direct control. The device also includes an integrated serial data receiver and associated logic circuit, enabling logic control from any device with an 8-bit Microcontroller or PWM (pulse-width modulation) output.

In addition to driving LED strings, the LP5523TM/NOPB can be used to control switches and test points, providing a convenient and cost effective way to add more control capability to the board. The integrated logic circuit can be used to perform a wide variety of digital control functions, such as setting up dimming or drive resistance values. The LP5523TM/NOPB also offers a configurable internal delay system which allows the user to configure the device to switch on or off at predetermined intervals.
