The LP5526TLEV is a LED driver evaluation board designed to aid customers in the development and evaluation of LED solutions. The development of LED solutions requires a combination of hardware and software which can be subject to various complexities, especially when the LED solutions involve wireless components. This leads to the development of LED solutions involving careful modelling of circuit boards, power management components and wireless communication protocols. The evaluation board makes use of the latest SMART® LED controllers from TI offering adjustable intensity and timing settings, as well as a range of diagnostic and protection features such as easy-to-use software, memory management, power monitoring, and communication networks.
Generally speaking, LED solutions involve a series of LEDs connected to a power source, often a battery, and the appropriate circuitry to light them. The LP5526TLEV offers a much faster solution by providing an evaluation board that is directly connected to the LED technology and its necessary control components. The board offers a range of advanced features such as two distinct supply voltage inputs for the LED rail, power supervisor and dimming control, as well as form factor compatible mounting with multiple SIM slots, so that customers can easily integrate into their own system solutions.
The first key feature of the LP5526TLEV evaluation board are the onboard LEDs. The board comes with up to 6 high-efficiency white, green, blue and red LEDs all mounted on the same SOT package, making it the ideal solution for applications such as RGB, lamps and backlighting. The board also offers up to 8 different colour channels that can be adjusted independently, so that individual elements can be lit up with different colours and intensities.
The second key feature of the board is its power controller. This is a device that allows for the control of power supplies on the board, and is essential for providing efficient operation of the LEDs and protecting them from voltage or current overloads. The power controller includes a pulsed voltage waveform that ensures the LEDs are kept at the most uniform level and brightness possible.
