LP8555EVM is a powerful evaluation board for LED drivers. It contains a serial programmable LED driver chip, which can be used to drive a wide variety of LEDs with great efficiency and excellent colour quality. Its features include:1. Output current determines the luminous intensity of an LED.2. The voltage output of each channel is individually adjustable.3. The output current can be set via the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).4. Programmable TJA1052 is used to control the power supply to the LEDs. 5. A variety of operating modes are supported, including dimming, strobing and pulse-width modulation (PWM).LP8555EVM is a great tool for designing LED lighting systems. This board is used to evaluate the performance of LED drivers, and also to develop stand-alone LED driver applications.To evaluate the performance of LED drivers, LP8555EVM includes a configuration file that allows users to easily program the LED driver chip according to their requirements. Additionally, the board can be powered directly from a USB port, allowing for convenient testing and data-gathering.To develop new LED driver applications, the board is configured with the peripherals that are necessary for most LED control applications. This includes an I2C interface to the TJA1052, two external SPI ports and an optional CAN bus. Additionally, the board includes an onboard power supply and 10P cable to connect to existing external power supplies.The working principle of LP8555EVM is relatively simple. The chip on the board is programmed according to user requirements and the corresponding coding determines the behaviour of the LED. The chip is then programmed with the relevant command and the data is transferred through the I2C interface to the TJA1052.The TJA1052 then sends out the power supply signal to the onboard MOSFET transistors, which in turn apply an appropriate voltage to the LED’s anode and cathode. The resulting current flow determines the luminosity characteristics of the LED.LP8555EVM is a powerful and useful tool for designing LED lighting systems. With its wide range of features, it can be used to develop both basic LED driver applications as well as more sophisticated ones.
