LP8728EVM is a full-featured, low-power, wide input-voltage (3V – 36V) switching mode power supply (SMPS) evaluation board. It is a compact reference platform for on-board power conversion using TI\'s LP8728 8-channel, step down, DC/DC converter. LP8728EVM provides a complete evaluation platform with easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) software for user-friendly configuration of the LP8728 peripheral components and interface options. The evaluation board also supports automatic evaluation of output power levels and allows for easy application development with TI\'s Code Composer Studio (CCStudio) development environment.Off-line SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply) power conversion technology offers superior performance in terms of power efficiency, reduced size, and low cost. This makes off-line SMPS suitable for a variety of portable applications and devices such as smartphones, tablets, and cameras. LP8728EVM utilizes the LP8728 IC to enable the seamless integration of new advanced power conversion technology into existing product designs.The LP8728EVM works on the principle of pulse width modulation (PWM). The LP8728EVM is used to convert a DC input voltage to an adjustable output voltage. It contains an integrated pulse-width modulator (PWM) that operates on the principle of frequency control, which allows for a better integration of input and output ripples and higher efficiency. The PWM produces switching pulses at a frequency determined by the output voltage of the converter.The LP8728EVM features a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) which allows for quick and easy setup and use. The user can configure the parameters of the power supply such as output voltage, load current, voltage drop, over-voltage protection (OVP), thermal protection, etc., from the GUI. The output voltage can be adjusted from 0.6 V to 36 V. The GUI also provides diagnostic features such as output voltage, current, and temperature waveforms.The evaluation board also includes additional hardware features such as a 16-bit digital and analog input/output (I/O) port, thermal protection, over-voltage protection (OVP), and integrated digital to analog converters (DACs). The evaluation board includes a 24-bit digital to analog converter (DAC) for precise output voltage management. The DAC supports an output voltage range of 1.2 V to 33 V. The evaluation board also supports power sequencing which allows for the safe startup and shutdown of a system.The LP8728EVM is designed to enable users to easily evaluate the performance and features of the LP8728 IC in a wide range of applications.
