Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors, also known as aluminum electrolytic capacitors, are types of capacitors that work with aluminum as the anode plates and a special type of electrolyte solution as the separator. The electrolyte used is usually a water-based, non-corrosive liquid, with properties that can act as both an insulator and conductor. The aluminum elements of these capacitors are rings with long flat plates that protrude from the cathode side. This allows for an increased surface area, which increases the capacitance. The capacitance of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor comes from the combination of the two plates, the moving charges trapped within the insulated electrolyte, and the charge separation between the two sides of the capacitor.
