The LT3465AES6#TRPBF is a high-efficiency, synchronous, monolithic step-down LED driver that employs two independent current channels. It is capable of driving two LEDs or LED strings with up to 500 mA of LED current per channel. The device supports constant current and constant voltage modes of operation. In addition, the LT3465AES6#TRPBF has a wide input voltage range from 4.5 V to 56 V and corresponding variable output current regulation. Combined with its low current consumption of only 100 μA for both channels and its low power loss, this device is ideal for applications where efficiency, size and weight are critical.

Working Principles:

The LT3465AES6#TRPBF driver operates by receiving a signal from an external PWM controller through the PWM input signal. This signal then synchronizes the internal oscillator to create constant-current LED currents. The LED current ramps up in accordance with the feedback from a release signal when the internal current sense transistor is turned on. The release signal is determined by the magnitude of the current sense signal which is directly proportional to the LED current. The release signal turns off the upper MOSFET and the LED current ramps down steadily in accordance with the release signal. The current limit of the driver is sensed and can be adjusted via the current limit pins. Additionally, the integrated over voltage protection feature guards against open LED or LED shorts and limits the LED current to preserve the LED’s lifespan.
