The LT3475EFE#TRPBF (LT3475) is a high-efficiency, current-regulated monolithic buck switching regulator with integrated switch. It was designed to drive light emitting diodes (LEDs) that require up to 6 A of current. Being part of the PMIC - LED Drivers family, the LT3475 can minimize power dissipation, providing a high level of performance, efficiency, and scalability for a broad range of LED lighting applications.
The LT3475 main features include switch current up to 6A, switch voltage up to 60V, adjustable output voltage from 0.75V to 16.5V, space-saving WSON-6E form factor, programmable LED current control from a few mA up to 6A, LED open and short LED protection, input undervoltage lockout, and overtemperature protection.
The operating temperature range for the LT3475 covers -40°C to +85°C and the switching frequency can be adjusted not only to optimize efficiency but also to avoid interference with other devices or communications. Since the LT3475 lacks an internal frequency compensation loop, it speeds up the design process and simplifies the power supply design while increasing the stability of the circuit.
The LT3475 combines an internal high-side switch with a low-side current-sense element to provide superior accuracy while effectively regulating the current to the LEDs regardless of line and load fluctuations. The current-regulated micropower buck regulator continuously regulates the output current to a precise level by switching the internal MOSFETs at a frequency of up to 1MHz, ensuring the highest efficiency and smooth light dimming.
Another great feature of the LT3475 is its programmable soft-start for LED current setting. This allows for gradual startup of the LED current, which ensures fast start-up response and warm startup for reliable LED performance. Additionally, the programmable LED current control allows the LED current to be programmed up to 6A and can be used to compensate for LED current mismatch by setting the LED current at a level lower than the typical LED current required.
The LT3475 is designed to provide reliable LED applications in a wide variety of applications including power backlighting, lighting applications, automotive, and industrial.
