This application note covers the application field and working principle of the LT3495EDDB#TRPBF.IntroductionSponge Mobile Solutions’ LT3495EDDB family is a load-switch synchronous, step-down DC-DC converter that optimizes performance and efficiency while providing high power density. This family of devices are designed to operate over a wide input voltage range and to provide an output voltage adjustable from 0.6V to 2.2V. It is intended for use in mobile applications such as smartphones, tablets, and handheld gaming devices.Application FieldThe LT3495EDDB#TRPBF is suitable for a variety of applications that need to efficiently convert from a higher voltage to a lower voltage. It is especially suited for power saving applications in mobile devices that require a high efficiency and 7A output current. This device is also well-suited for high-speed applications, such as USB Type C charging.Working PrincipleThe LT3495EDDB#TRPBF utilizes an optimized boundary mode flyback topology that combines several key features, improving efficiency and increasing power density compared with other load switches. The synchronous control along with the current mode control and pulse-width modulation (PWM) allow this device to achieve efficiencies of up to 95%.At start-up, the device is in an OFF state, where it draws minimal input current while consuming no output power. When the Enable signal is applied, the device switches on, charging an external inductor that provides the output voltage. This charge is then regulated by the LT3495EDDB#TRPBF using a constant PWM signal. By using a PWM signal instead of a constant on/off signal, the LT3495EDDB#TRPBF is able to better regulate output voltages, resulting in improved performance and efficiency.The LT3495EDDB#TRPBF has several features designed to reduce power consumption and increase efficiency.
