The LT3570EUF#PBF\'s working principle is based on the synchronous buck technique: When the control signal from the converter\'s current sense circuit indicates that the voltage across the converter\'s output inductor has dropped below the programmed threshold, the LT3570EUF#PBF triggers the appropriate internal output switch and current is allowed to flow from the input source to the output. When the LT3570EUF#PBF senses that the current has reached the programmed lower limit, it turns off the switch, thereby terminating the current flow. This process is repeated in a cyclical fashion and the resulting pulses create the DC output voltage.
In order to regulate the output voltage, the LT3570EUF#PBF must have a feedback loop in place to measure the difference between the desired output voltage and the actual output voltage. This feedback loop is typically implemented using an opto-coupler connected to the output voltage sense circuit. The feedback signal is then fed to the LT3570EUF#PBF\'s high-side comparator, which compares the sensed voltage to the programmed voltage setpoint, and then commands the appropriate high-side or low-side switch to turn off or on. In this way, the LT3570EUF#PBF can keep the output voltage stable.
For applications where high efficiency and low EMI are of utmost importance, the LT3570EUF#PBF can also be operated in a quasi-resonant buck mode by utilizing the integrated half-bridge control logic. By modulating the high-side switch frequency, the buck output can be made to operate in a quasi-resonant manner during light load conditions, resulting in more efficient operation and improved EMI performance.
