The LT3758AEDD#TRPBF is an adjustable high efficiency synchronous step-down switching regulator, which is a type of DC to DC switching controller. It is designed to deliver power from a 4-18 V input to one or two regulated output voltages. The device features low RDS(ON) internal power switches and two independent output voltage feedbacks for accurate and efficient power supply. It features a current mode architecture for superior noise immunity, line and load transient response, and fast response to dynamic loads.
The LT3758AEDD#TRPBF can support up to 5A continuous output current with very low quiescent current (typically 120uA). The device also supports Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) modes of operation with adaptive on-time modulation and can switch in either continuous or discontinuous mode with auto-peak current reduction.
The LT3758AEDD#TRPBF comes in a compact 5x5mm QFN package, making it suitable for many portable and highly integrated applications such as mobile handsets, notebook and tablet PCs, and other battery-powered products. It is pin compatible with the MAX8839/MAX8841 and the LTC3217/LTC3218, reducing board space and eliminating the need for external components.

The LT3758AEDD#TRPBF has a working principle based on buck voltage regulator. The integrated MOSFET switch is driven by a feedback loop consisting of a voltage error amplifier, a PWM provided by oscillator, ON/OFF comparator and current sense amplifier. This feedback loop will regulate the voltage of the output and keep it stable. The ON/OFF comparator compares the reference voltage with the input voltage and when the input voltage exceeds the reference voltage, the switch will turn on the power MOSFET and the current through the inductor will start to flow. This current will increase until the voltage across the inductor reaches the set reference voltage, and the MOSFET starts to turn off. In this way, the output voltage is regulated.
