The LTC3372EUK#TRPBF is a power management and battery charging IC (PMIC) that provides highly efficient, flexible power-transformation and power-management functions for use in any application. It is part of the DC DC Switching Controllers family of PMICs, designed specifically for situations where there is a need to change the input voltage range, provide intermittent power, or allow for distribution of power to multiple rails.

The LTC3372EUK#TRPBF is an ideal IC for use as an input supply buck-boost controller, as well as a 3-phase synchronous buck-boost (SYB+/-) controller for applications such as LED lighting, battery charging, and other mobile, size-constrained, and space-limited applications. The input stage also features dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) capability, which allows for optimized battery charging performance over varying battery-pack voltages, such as in automotive applications.

To further improve efficiency, the device also features a number of current-saving techniques, such as wide-input-range pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode for low current consumption, and high-gain synchronous buck/boost controllers with low peak inductor current for improved light load efficiency. Other features include adaptive dead-time control, a smart current limiter for optimal current margin, and selectable peak-current mode, average-current mode, or voltage-mode control for flexibility.

The LTC3372EUK#TRPBF includes a unique external programming input to enable a user to select the desired voltage, current limit, and other settings. It also includes power-good, power-fail, and temperature-sense inputs, as well as an onboard temperature monitor. A low-voltage negative-signal-voltage output is also included to provide feedback on the current-sense results.
