The LTC3728IUH#TRPBF is a highly integrated and efficient mPower step down switching controller, that uses advanced Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control to support voltages up to 150V. The controller includes all of the critical functions required to operate a high performance, low cost isolated dc-to-dc power supply. Utilizing a complete power conversion solution, it can be used to reduce total solution size, increase system reliability and reduce design time.
The LTC3728IUH#TRPBF was designed for use in applications that require high reliability, variable output voltage, and/or high efficiency. Such applications include computers, automotive, networking and industrial equipment.
In many applications, it is capable of operating from a single output ranging from 0V to 150V, and can accept a wide range of input voltages from 4V to 24V. It can also operate in an adjustable output voltage mode up to 3V to 5.5V. It can also handle a load current oscillation of up to 20A.
The LTC3728IUH#TRPBF is based on a switching architecture, which allows it to switch power between two different power sources, both at a constant frequency. The joule-theft current sensing feature ensures that the switching converter operates at optimal efficiency, even during periods of light load.
The controller also offers full protection against external shortcircuits, as well as a built in open load protection circuit. Additionally, it also provides a number of built-in overcurrent, over-voltage and over-temperature protections to keep the system safe in times of emergency.
