Working Principle

The LTC3802EGN#PBF features a constant frequency, current mode architecture with senseFET technology. The negative voltage high side switch control signal is the high side switch gate driver that supplies the gate output current which is derived from a bootstrap capacitor. The synchronous high side signal when turned on by the circuit’s pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal will turn the switch FET on.The low side switch is usually a non-synchronous switch because of its low voltage operation. The integrated PWM controller adjusts the duty cycle of the PWM signal to adjust its power output.

The current sense circuitry senses the current in the circuit andfeeds it back to the primary side control loop. The current sense signalcan be read directly by the control software to adjust the duty cycleof the PWM signal in order to maintain a constant output voltage level.The LTC3802EGN#PBF also provides mobile fault protection, adjustable soft-start and overcurrent protection, and gate-pulse blanking for increased EMI reduction.
