The working principle of the LTC3858EUFD-1#PBF is as follows. It combines a precision adjustable-reference, an output overvoltage detection, a current mode error amplifier, an oscillator, and an internal soft-start circuit into a single package. When the voltage on the pin is high enough, the P-channel gate driver is enabled and the N-Channel gate driver is powered. The P-channel gate driver then supplies current to the switches that convert the input voltage to the output voltage. The current mode error amplifier senses the amount of current running through the primary winding and adjusts the duty cycle of the switch to maintain the current. By doing this, the voltage at the output remains regulated.
