As a type of PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit), the LTC4267CGN#TRPBF can be used as a Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) controller. It operates in compliance with the IEEE 802.3 standard, providing up to 35W of power to networks with low voltage power up to 100m distances. With the inherent high-voltage isolation and protection, LTC4267CGN#TRPBF can be used in many electrical applications like 802.3af/at/bt as well as 4PPoE( passively powered device).
The LTC4267CGN#TRPBF contains a high-voltage power-output capacitor, allowing for the power to be available for a high-power load, such as a cooler, compressor, server, or any other electrical device or circuit with a high-power load. It is also suitable for high-voltage applications with wide-ranging temperature operating range. In this case, it can be used to control the power supply and protection for small servers, digital cameras, access control systems, and other large-scale devices.
This PoE controller offers two Power-Delivery Modes (PDs): In the Mode A, it delivers power to the connected device over a separate pair of twisted pair cables (TP). In the Mode B, it provides power to the connected device over the existing CAT 5 cable.
When the Mode A is selected, the LTC4267CGN#TRPBF powers up the device by sending the initial voltage signal from the source, then controlling the voltage level upon the communication of voltage and current information back from the connected device. When the Mode B is selected, the PoE controller sends out a signal to the connected device indicating how much power it should receive. The controller then adjusts the current and voltage level based on the information received from the device.
The LTC4267CGN#TRPBF is also capable of providing short-circuit protection. When the current delivered is too large, the controller will automatically reduces the voltage and current level. When the short-circuit is cleared, the controller will return to its normal operation.
The LTC4267CGN#TRPBF integrates an NFET device that is designed to prevent the device from being damaged by reverse polarization of input lines. It also offers a wide input voltage range from 9–36V to accommodate varying load conditions and temperatures. Furthermore, with its efficient thermal management, this PoE controller offers a wide operating temperature range from -20°C to 85°C.
In addition, the LTC4267CGN#TRPBF is built with open-circuit protection, which means that it will automatically power-down when it detects an open-circuit condition. It also incorporates an automatic restart feature which will restart the device automatically after the open-circuit condition is cleared.
The LTC4267CGN#TRPBF PoE controller also includes intelligent detection and classification settings, allowing it to automatically detect the type of connected PD and identify whether it is Class 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. This can help minimize the current consumption during the start-up phase, as well as prevent the unintentional powering of PDs with inadequate power requirements.
The LTC4267CGN#TRPBF is a highly efficient and reliable PoE controller, providing up to 35W of power over Ethernet at great distances and high efficiency.
