LTC4210-1CS6#TRPBF application field and working principle The LTC4210-1CS6#TRPBF is a high-performance hot-swap controller specifically designed for the growing hot-swappable NVM Express (NVMe) and PCI Express drives markets. With this integrated device, system designers can quickly deploy hot-swap designs that protect their components from excessive in-rush currents associated with unplugging/plugging of hot-swap circuits. It also eliminates the need for external current-limiting resistors and large bypass capacitors, reducing power loss and overall system cost. The LTC4210-1CS6#TRPBF is ideal for powering hot-swap NVMe and PCI Express devices. It provides an integrated current-limit circuit that protects against in-rush currents which can cause system-level damage during plugging in of PCIe power connectors. The current-limit circuit features a sophisticated current monitor with a high-accuracy output (±0.3%) that can be monitored via an on-chip comparator to trigger a hot-swap control logic. The LTC4210-1CS6#TRPBF also offers configurable voltage and current-limit settings, allowing system designers to customize their hot-swap designs to meet their system requirements.In addition to its current-limit features, the LTC4210-1CS6#TRPBF also offers configurable power-good and fault detection circuit, as well as a power-fail monitoring input to ensure proper system shutdown. It also integrates over-voltage and under-voltage protection functions to ensure reliable operation. The LTC4210-1CS6#TRPBF is designed for use in hot-swap applications. It supports inrush current limiting, voltage and current trip threshold programming, power-good and fault detection, as well as over-voltage and under-voltage protection. The device also provides a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, and is offered in a 48-PowerPAD package, with an enable pin to allow for easy connection to the enable pin required in hot-swap designs. To ensure power-up reliability and provide system-level protection, the LTC4210-1CS6#TRPBF incorporates a current-limit circuit with adjustable threshold settings. This integrated circuit limits the current inrush during plugging of a PCIe power connector to a safe level that is pre-set by the user. This current limit is adjustable over a wide range (1A to 8A) and allows precise settings to fit the requirements of each system. Also, the power-good and fault detection circuit allows the system to identify the exact status of the power source and take appropriate action based on this information.Finally, the power-fail monitor input allows for precise power failure detection and proper control to be taken for system-level shutdown.
