The LTC6752HSC6-1 is a programmable linear comparator. This device can be utilized for applications such as over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and thermal shutdown protection. It is designed to provide superior performance and accuracy under varying environmental conditions.

The LTC6752HSC6-1 compares two signals, the reference, or set point and the internal temperature, or fault signal, and then initiates the predetermined action.

The LTC6752HSC6-1 has a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C and uses a low-cost, two-wire interfacing to other higher voltage circuits. It utilizes a new self-biased comparator circuit that is inherently stable with large hysteresis.

The device features a threshold range of -8V to +8V and can be programmed to activate an over-voltage and under-voltage detectors, as well as locking out the system in the event of over-temperature and thermal shutdown events. In addition, the LTC6752HSC6-1 can be configured to activate open-circuit or short-circuit detectors.

The device is programmed by supplying a programming voltage (VPROG) to the programming terminal and applying a start cycle voltage at the start/stop terminal. After programming is complete, the start cycle voltage is removed from the start/stop terminal. The device will then initiate the desired action automatically and repeat it as long as the programming voltage is present.

The device is composed of a linear comparator, an op-amp, a digital control logic, and a start/stop control logic. The linear comparator is used to compare the input reference voltage (VREF) against the fault voltage (VFAULT). If the fault voltage is greater than the reference voltage, the comparator output is pulled low and the drain is used to drive the output of the device.

The op-amp is used as a differential amplifier and is used to condition the input signals. The digital control logic is responsible for converting the reference voltage into a digital equivalent which is used to control the start/stop logic and the comparator output. The start/stop logic is responsible for the timing of the start cycle and its automatic repetition.
