DC DC Converters: The LTM4675IY is a high-efficiency, high-current4-phase step-down switching regulator for use in high power microwave and high-end graphics applications.

The innovative IC delivers up to 10A of output current per channel with a maximum switch current of 30A. It has been designed to support high current loads such as those in video streaming, graphics, data processing and storage applications.

The part is available in 48-VIN and 12-VIN versions and features a wide input voltage range from 4.5V to 24V. The part is rated for a maximum power dissipation of up to 25W and has thermal shutdown protection. In addition, the LTM4675IY integrates a power-good signal and enable control.

Working Principle: The LTM4675IY supports 4-phase pulse width modulated (PWM) operation with a fixed frequency of 1.2 MHz. It integrates a high-side N-channel MOSFET and a low-side P-channel MOSFET for each of the four phases. The IC is capable of delivering up to 10A of continuous current per phase. The switching frequency can be adjusted with an external resistor, and the input voltage sensing is integrated into the device.

The part features current-mode operation for greater accuracy in the current limit loop. The current limit can be adjusted by changing the external voltage applied to the RT pin. The LTM4675IY also features an adjustable soft-start and under voltage lockout (UVLO) protection. Additionally, the device features an overload protection and an integrated power-good signal.
