The LV8702V-TLM-H is a constant voltage, constant current PWM controller with integrated gate drivers. It is designed to drive single-phase brushless DC motors with rated currents up to 1.5 Amperes. The LV8702V-TLM-H provides a highly efficient solution to maximize operating time in battery-powered applications, particularly when used in combination with a high turn-off side MOSFET.

The LV8702V-TLM-H features a built-in current sense circuit to accurately sense the motor current and adjust the PWM duty cycle to keep the motor current at its maximum designed value. The current sense voltage range is wide enough to monitor up to 1.5 A motor current. The LV8702V-TLM-H also provides a temperature sensing circuit for setting temperature protection thresholds.

At startup, the LV8702V-TLM-H applies an adjustable current slew rate ramp, to reduce instantaneous current flow to the motor, thus protecting the motor from high in-rush current. When the motor reaches its maximum speed, the PWM duty cycle is adjusted but the motor output will not exceed the programmed maximum speed.

The LV8702V-TLM-H is able to sense the motor speed by monitoring the frequency of the back-EMF generated by the spinning motor. The desired motor speed can be programmed through a voltage source. The internal PWM generator of the LV8702V-TLM-H is able to operate with different frequencies in order to reach the desired speed while still maintaining accurate speed control.

The LV8702V-TLM-H can also be used to implement closed loop digital speed control. The internal closed loop digital speed control circuitry is programmed through a voltage source. The output of the internal digital speed control circuitry is feedback to the internal PWM generator to accurately control the speed of the motor.

The LV8702V-TLM-H is ideal for applications such as battery-powered hand-held products, home appliances, small electric vehicles, and mini robots. It can be used to drive any single-phase brushless DC motor and is able to operate from a wide supply voltage range from 4.0V to 28.0V.

The LV8702V-TLM-H is able to protect against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and short-circuit conditions. It can also operate in sleep and standby modes to reduce power consumption when not in use.
