Application Field
LX7165-01CSP is designed to be an integrated high-efficiency 3-terminal switching regulator. It can be used as an adjustable or fixed-voltage regulator in a wide range of applications including LED driving, LCD panel driving, power supplies, automotive and so on. This product is designed to achieve high power conversion efficiency up to 96%.
The operating range of input voltage must not exceed 6V. The output voltage can be adjusted between 1.2V and 5V. There are two types of output current available, 2A and 3A

Work Principle
The main idea of LX7165-01CSP is to utilize the internal linear regulator and external PNP power transistor as the switch of the switching circuit. The output voltage of 3-terminal regulator is regulated by the linear regulator. The internal power transistor is operated by the voltage error amplifier which drives the external power transistor to control the duty cycle of the switching circuit in order to maintain the output voltage at the required level.
When operating, the linear regulator regulates the voltage at the output by modulating the input voltage. Low-noise linear regulation is achieved through an efficient combination of current sensing and voltage sensing feedback networks. During startup and recovery from over-temperature or short-circuit conditions, the soft start circuit prevents fast-charging of the output capacitor.
When the load current is below the internal current limit, the voltage error amplifier drives the internal power transistor to turn on at 100%. When the mechanism is disturbed and the load current exceeds the internal current limit, the voltage error amplifier reduces the duty cycle of the internal power transistor to prevent the load current from rising further.
