LX8117-25CDD Application Field and Working Principle

LX8117-25CDD is a series of voltage regulators as classified under PMIC - Voltage Regulators - Linear. A Lithium-ion battery charger with integrated linear and switching solutions, LX8117-25CDD combines a Linear LDO with an ideal diode and integrated MOSFET switch. The device requires an input voltage ranging from 4.5V to 16V with an adjustable output voltage. Moreover, the output current of the regulator is up to 1A.

Working Principle

The LX8117-25CDD series of linear regulators are based on the principle of dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) switching. It combines a Linear LDO with an integrated Ideal Diode MOSFET switch, which provides ultra-low dropout operation and high efficiency operation.

The output voltage is adjustable by an external voltage divider. The device\'s Linear LDO provides a regulated output voltage during Light Load Operation, while the integrated MOSFET switch ensures High Efficiency during heavy load operation. A Projection Authentication Change(PAC) is available to further reduce power consumption.

The integrated Ideal Diode MOSFET switch provides reverse load protection against reverse load protection and enables simple implementation of supply circuit with two power sources. The integrated VBUS Overvoltage Protection (OVP) feature protects the device from damage caused by an overvoltage input.
