Working Principle

The LX8117B-25CDT is designed with an advanced architecture in order to achieve the most reliable performance and smallest footprint with minimal components. It operates with a standard input voltage from 3.3V to 5.5V. Its output voltage is trimmed to within ±0.8 mV. It integrates a bandgap reference and an internal voltage divider to generate a reference voltage, driving an error comparator. The comparator drives the control signal to a P-channel MOSFET, which serves as the pass element for the desired output. The output voltage is also established by the voltage of the input signal and the RdsON of the MOSFET. The output voltage is further trimmed by an external resistor divider. The maximum output current is 3A.The LX8117B-25CDT also integrates internal thermal protection that shuts down the output when the die temperature exceeds a predefined limit.
