The LYT4215L is a highly efficient, synchronous rectification, step-down switching regulator controller with a constant frequency peak current-mode control circuit and programmable protection features. It provides a low-side switch current limit control, VDD under-voltage protection, supply over-voltage, and over-current protection.The LYT4215L operates from an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V and is capable of providing continuous output currents up to 3A. The device also features a Selectable Power Path Controller, which enables the rectifier to be placed across the system VDD rail and be powered directly.The LYT4215L is ideal for applications such as Power over Ethernet (POE), USB PD, DC/DC converters, and other commercial applications. It provides Gate Drive and Charge Pump (CP) bias output to reduce the cost of external components.The LYT4215L has a constant frequency peak current-mode controller, which is optimized for a wide range of input and output voltages (VIN and VOUT respectively). This mode of operation allows for fast transient response, good line and load regulation, accurate output voltage regulation and less sleep power consumption.The LYT4215L also features a Selectable Power Path Controller that can be placed directly on the system VDD rail. This allows the circuit to be powered directly from the output supply, reducing external component costs, board space and power dissipation.The device also includes programmable protection features, including a low-side switch current limit control, VDD under-voltage protection, supply over-voltage protection, and over-current protection. The low-side switch current limit control features a programmable upper and lower limit, providing protection to the load when switching current limit is exceeded. The over-current protection is triggered when the voltage at shunt reaches the user set level.The LYT4215L operates at an switching frequency up to 2.5MHz, allowing for compact design, minimum external component count, and improved circuit efficiency.
