Data acquisition is the process of sampling signals that measure real world physical conditions and converting the resulting samples into digital numeric values that can be manipulated by a computer. The MAX1246AEEE+T Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) is a low-cost, high-performance integrated circuit for data acquisition. The MAX1246AEEE+T is a complete, single-chip analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a built-in track-and-hold amplifier.
The MAX1246AEEE+T utilizes a differential integrator, whose gain is fixed by an external resistor, for sample and hold and pipelined successive chopping for digital conversion. The MAX1246AEEE+T supports a wide range of input configurations ranging from single-ended unipolar to differential bipolar, and can convert signals within the ranges of 0 to 5 volts, 0 to 10 volts, ±2.5 volts and ±5 volts. The MAX1246AEEE+T has an absolute maximum input voltage and a maximum input voltage range of ±6 volts, so the total input voltage range is 0 to 12 volts. The MAX1246AEEE+T has a maximum conversion rate of 50 kilo samples per second, with a 0.5% FSR accuracy.
The MAX1246AEEE+T has an on-chip reference voltage generator that is capable of supplying a programmable internal or external reference voltage. The internal reference voltage can be set to 2.5 volts, and the external reference voltage can range from 0.5 volts to the supply voltage.
