MAX1361EUB+ is a complete, 14-bit, serial input, unipolar to bipolar, analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The device provides an accurate ADC platform, with an output resolution of up to 13-bits and a SNR of 91dB. The MAX1361EUB+ has a wide input-range from 1mV to +2.2V and an on-chip reference voltage of 1.2V. The device is also available in an 8-bit resolution version and a low-power variant.The ADC consists of a three-stage Gaussian filter and a dual-slope analog-to-digital conversion technique. The first stage of the Gaussian filter is an input low-pass filter which attenuates high-frequency signals near Fc and allows frequencies above Fc to pass. The second stage is an output filter which passes frequencies below Fc and attenuates frequencies above Fc. The last stage is an anti-aliasing filter which attenuates signals above a certain threshold.The analog-to-digital conversion is done by storing the initial voltage of the incoming signal and then charging the integrating capacitor with a current of a known value. The time it takes for the capacitor to reach a threshold voltage determines the value of the digital output. This process is repeated until the full resolution is achieved.The ADC is designed to work with different types of input signals such as bridge resistors, current sources, and voltage sources. It also features a low power mode that reduces power consumption by up to 50%. The device includes a serial interface for transferring data to and from the ADC as well as for monitoring the device’s activity. The MAX1361EUB+ is suitable for a variety of applications such as temperature measuring, analog-to-digital conversion for video and motion sensors, data acquisition for medical imaging, and industrial automation.
