It enables the design of innovative adapter and battery power solutions with superior power efficiency, better integration, and system cost savings potential. The MAX14728EWV+T integrates a wide variety of power management and control functions into an IC. Offering half-power and shutdown modes, the IC is able to regulate the power supply of laptop computers, cell phones and other portable devices.The MAX14728EWV+T application field includes USB-host powered, adapter-powered and battery-powered applications. It is used in a wide range of portable devices, such as tablets and laptops, cellular phones, and portable gaming consoles. The MAX14728EWV+T is designed to support various types of ports such as USB, SATA, PCIe, and eMMC. It is fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification, and power sequencing of connected devices is fully supported.The working principle of the MAX14728EWV+T is based on its integrated functions. It is designed to enable low RDS(on) power MOSFETs, with internal current- and voltage-limiting features enabled via the SmartPower Technology. This technology features an adjustable power-switching frequency, enabling optimization between power performance and system induced noise. In addition, it includes peak current detection and inrush current control, which helps minimize power dissipation and extend battery life.All the power supply conditions and conditions in the device are monitored and controlled through the PMIC. It includes also over current and over temperature protection with adjustable thresholds for both. In addition, through its integrated analog-to-digital converter, the MAX14728EWV+T can monitor and manage other power-related conditions, such as charge current and battery voltage. The MAX14728EWV+T also includes a built-in step-down converter, designed to optimize power performance while minimizing power consumption. It is designed to deliver wide input voltage ranges, while maintaining a constant output voltage, with minimal battery drain. The integrated boost converter also enables fast charging and a regulated output voltage supply, supporting a wide range of input power sources. This integrated boost converter is designed to offer high efficiency and low noise operation, while delivering up to 5A current limit. It also features built-in power MOSFETs and pulsed current control, allowing it to offer high efficiency, low power dissipation, and high protection against over-current events. In addition, the MAX14728EWV+T also includes integrated adaptive voltage scaling, allowing for dynamic voltage scaling, providing flexible power supply design as well as optimized power efficiency. It also offers integrated battery charge management, allowing for efficient and safe charging of Li-ion, Li-polymer, and other types of batteries.The MAX14728EWV+T is the ideal PMIC for applications requiring excellent power management, higher efficiency, and lower power consumption. It enables superior system performance and cost savings potential, as well as a great deal of flexibility for system designers to optimize their power requirement and design.
