Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UARTs) provide an interface between two digital devices or two nodes in a network. The MAX14830ETM+G3U is one such UART used in applications requiring a highly integrated device. The MAX14830ETM+G3U offers a wide range of features including programmable baud rate, low EMI emission, very low noise, low standby current, and integrated protection circuits.

Working Principle
The MAX14830ETM+G3U UART is a full-duplex communication solution based on an on-chip, proprietary microcontroller. It supports up to 8 independent devices using a single UART bus, with programmable baud rates up to 2 Mbps. The integrated protection circuits detect and alert the user of common faults such as overload, underload, overvoltage or undervoltage, and temperature faults.
Data is transferred between devices through the UART in a synchronous serial format, with a data rate of up to 2 Mbps. Each device can have up to 8 data bits, 1 start bit, and 1 stop bit. In addition, the MAX14830ETM+G3U supports several other data encoding and framing options, such as 7/8/9-bit data encoding, address detection, and parity/even-odd parity bits. This allows the user to customize the transmission settings as per their requirements.
The MAX14830ETM+G3U supports multiple flow control options, including RTS (Request To Send) and CTS (Clear To Send) signals. Flow control enables the user to synchronize the data flow between devices, thus avoiding data loss due to buffer overruns. It also offers various power management modes, including low, medium and full power operation, to save power.
In addition, the MAX14830ETM+G3U provides various advanced features enabling the user to customize the communication protocol for specific applications. These include timeouts, hardware handshakes and interrupts, wakeup functions, wake-on-ring and modem control, as well as advanced error detection and control.
