It integrates the sequential turn-on protection, over-current protection and under-voltage detection for both voltages into a single IC. This makes it ideal for reliable and efficient power management for systems powered by a dual voltage supply.

Features

The MAX16055CAUB+T features a sequential turn-on overcurrent protection, under-voltage detection and reset generation, making it ideal for any system which is powered by a dual voltage rail. It also features a high accuracy threshold voltage of ±2.5%, while still offering extremly low start-up and shutdown current consumption of only 30μA and 30nA, respectively. In addition, the MAX16055CAUB+T has an ultra-low quiescent current of 2μA and a fast delay time of 40µs.

Working Principle

The MAX16055CAUB+T is a highly effective device that consists of two voltage supervisors that can monitor and take action when the voltage on either of the inputs rises outside a predetermined level. Firstly, the high voltage VH pin is monitored with a comparator. If the voltage exceeds the high threshold set internally, the device will turn off the power outputs and place the device in reset. Secondly, the low voltage VL pin is monitored with another comparator. If the voltage falls below the low threshold set internally, the device will also turn off the power output and place the device in reset. After the appropriate thresholds have been achieved, then the MAX16055CAUB+T will turn on the power outputs, allowing normal operation of the system. The MAX16055CAUB+T also has a restart pulse output which can be connected to an external controller, allowing simple control with external reset pins.
