Introduction

MAX15061ATE+ is a highly integrated power management integrated circuit (PMIC) intended for portable low power applications. This PMIC integrates up to five buck-boost controllers and two LDOs without requiring additional external components. In addition, two additional buck converters can be enabled with the help of an external FET. Operating over a wide voltage range of 4.5 V to 28 V at temperatures of -40°C to +85°C, the device is capable of providing power supply solutions for both Li-ion battery- and wall adapter-operated applications. With its power density up to 46W/mm3, it is relatively small in size compared to other PMICs and hence, consumes very low power. Therefore, it is well suited for handheld devices where space and power are of concern.

Working Principle

The two power saving LDO channels have separate enable lines for independent control and come with an adjustable output voltage for precise voltage regulation. The buck/boost converters are capable of providing up to 500mA of output current and have an adjustable output voltage that ranges from 2.5V to 23V. The power saving LDO channels provide up to 500mA output current and are able to achieve load regulation of 0.4%. The device is designed for fast transient response, with a 40μs response time and a 2μs settling time to allow for quick voltage changes in response to load transients. Additionally, four power saving mode pins are available to reduce power consumption unnecessarily.
