The MAX16004CTP+T can be classified as PMIC - Supervisors. It provides two very important functionalities: microprocessor reset, and power-on reset via power sequencing. Microprocessor reset is a function responsible for resetting a microprocessor when the system parameters fail to operate within the pre-defined operating range. The MAX16004CTP+T integrates a voltage-detecting comparator and reset circuitry to perform this task. It monitors voltage levels with a precision of ±1.5%, and will assert a reset signal when the voltage goes below or above the user-configurable threshold value.

The MAX16004CTP+T also provides power sequencing to ensure components power up and measure in a specific sequence. Power sequencing serves an extremely important role in system design as it can protect components and prevent oscillations. An up to 28-step power sequencing circuitry can be programmed through the MAX16004CTP+T’s I2C interface, and can configure output voltage levels and slew rate for each step.

The MAX16004CTP+T is available in space-saving 8-TDFN and 8-VDFN packages, and is rated for use from -40˚C to +125˚C. It supports an extended input voltage range from 0.7V to 5.5V, making it ideal for low-voltage applications. In addition, the MAX16004CTP+T features power-good, power-fault, and an adjustable push-pull output signal.

The MAX16004CTP+T is suitable for systems with multiple power supplies and wide operating temperature range. Potential applications include battery-operated and portable devices, Linux-based applications, industrial systems, automotive and automotive telematics, and medical devices.
