MAX16004DTP+ is a highly integrated Power Management IC (PMIC) supervisory device with a microcontroller connection to monitor two power supplies and two system power rails. It is designed to be used in industrial, medical, communication and consumer applications. It is an integrated, multifunctional device that offers a high level of features with unprecedented precision, reliability and accuracy.The MAX16004DTP+ provides users with a highly functional monitoring solution for two power supplies, two system power rails, voltage and temperature-sensing, overcurrent and overvoltage protection, brown-out protection, power-on reset (POR), and supervisor/reset detection. It is available in two versions: the MAX16004 (with extended voltage range) and the MAX16004DTP+ (with extended temperature range).The MAX16004DTP+’s main application field is for monitoring power rails and power supplies, providing overvoltage, overcurrent and thermal protection for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications. It can be used to detect overvoltage, overcurrent, and temperature sensitive events in industrial motor drives, circuit breaker applications, and other areas where monitoring is important. The MAX16004DTP+ consists of an advanced analog control block that consists of an input monitor and an output stage controller, as well as a low-power digital processor. The analog control block provides the voltage and temperature sensing capabilities, while the low-power processor provides the complex sequencing necessary for accurate power supply and system power rail monitoring.The heart of the MAX16004DTP+ is the Analog Control Block, which features advanced power shut-off circuit with configurable thresholds. This allows the user to configure the device in order to isolate the system power supply and provide protection against overvoltage and overcurrent conditions. The current-sense amplifier in the Analog Control Block can be configured to measure the load current when the load current is greater than the rated rating of the system.In addition to the Analog Control Block, the MAX16004DTP+ also includes a low-power Digital Processor for complex monitoring and control tasks. The Digital Processor includes timers and configurable counter values that allow the device to monitor system power rails and power supplies with precision. It also includes a Watchdog Timer to provide an absolute time limit for device operations and provides the flexibility to detect a system reset from an external source to enable automatic system power-on reset (POR). The Digital Processor also provides a 32-bit, Fixed-Time Delay (FTD) function for the MAX16004DTP+ to provide added flexibility for monitoring applications, in addition to configurable thresholds. The fixed-time delay allows the user to detect an overvoltage/overcurrent event and take appropriate action, such as shutting down the system or providing a reset to the microcontroller.The MAX16004DTP+ is a highly reliable device with a high ESD and vibration tolerance, as well as a long-term stability and accuracy.
