Working Principle

The MAX16055JAUB+ is a low-power, low-voltage PMIC supervisor that measures system power supply monitoring, manual reset, and independent dual watchdog timers (WDTs). It is designed to implement a controlled shutdown or reset in the event of system programming errors, over voltage or power supply glitches. It features a built-in 150mA LDO (Low Drop Out) regulator which can provide a starting power to the system when main power supply module is not ready and an independent 200ma reset output circuit to turn on an external reset circuit. In addition, a manual reset switch is available to restart the system whenever required.

The watchdog system consists of two independent counters with independent timeout configurations. The first counter is used to set the reset pulse width, while the second counter is used to set the solenoid on-time of the reset. Both counters can be programmed to generate a reset pulse as short as 200µs. The MAX16055JAUB+ provides precise voltage monitoring with a programmable Wide Voltage Detector (WVD) threshold.
