This is accomplished by connecting the Power Fail (PFI) pin to the system’s reset line. The MAX16073RS31D2+T also has an adjustable alert delay, to accommodate the system’s power supply constraints.
To protect against overvoltage, the MAX16073RS31D2+T provides warning/protection to the system by monitoring the voltage level at the PFI pin. An overvoltage condition on the PFI pin triggers the device’s overvoltage protection circuit. Once the overvoltage protection circuit has been activated, the alert pin pulls low and the MAX16073RS31D2+T holds the system’s reset line low until the condition is cleared. This can be done manually by toggling the PFI pin input to the device, or automatically by the device’s internal timer.
