These are intended for mobile and desktop microprocessor applications. They feature a wide supply voltage of 1.0V to 5.5V, low quiescent current, multiple reset modes, low reset threshold voltage, and a low-voltage reset and monitoring input with an open-drain output.Application Fields
The MAX16118KA+ is suitable for a variety of applications including system reset and watchdog timer generation, processor monitoring and re-sequencing, system power-up/down sequencing, and microcontroller power control. The MAX16118KA+ is a programmable supervisor designed to improve system reliability and reduce power consumption. It operates by monitoring the power-supply, manual reset, and watchdog signals for power-up transients, reset attempts, and failure assertion.Upon power-up, the supervisor looks for a valid logic high voltage at the power supply input (VCC) and a valid logic low voltage level at Reset Input (RESET) before setting the reset output. The reset output then remains active until the power supply reaches a valid operating voltage level.After power-up, the MAX16118KA+ continues to monitor the Reset, WDTIN, MRTIN and VCC pins. If an erroneous voltage level is detected, or if a counter reaches a timeout period set by the user, the supervisor will generate a reset signal. The signal will be latched until a valid reset is asserted by application of a logic high voltage to the Reset Input pin.The supervisor is also capable of generating an open drain output which can be used to indicate a System OK or reset status.
