MAX16126TCC/V+T is a regulator specialized for Power Management, which provides Chip-Scale Synchronous step-down DC-to-DC converter with integrated high-side power MOSFET, voltage sense amplifier, controlled reset, and temperaturemonitors. Its application fields includes high current, power sensitive loads such as automotive, communications, and industrial applications, providing solutions to high current, low ESR and thermally enhanced designs.The MAX16126TCC/V+T is a 2A, two-phase, synchronous, step-down DC-to-DC converter with integrated high-side power MOSFET and voltage sense amplifier. It provides a complete synchronous-buck DC-to-DC conversion solution with easy-to-use design flexibility. The device offers a programmable output, temperature monitor, controlled-reset, and fault protection functions, allowing for very flexible, reliable and high power density solutions.The MAX16126TCC/V+T step-down DC-to-DC converter is designed for a wide range of output power levels, and features a switching frequency of up to 1.8 MHz and Vin range from 7V to 38V. It can provide up to 2A output current with an adjustable output voltage range of 0.9V to 6.3V. Additionally, the device supports both pulse frequency modulation (PFM) and pulse width modulation (PWM) modes of operation. The high-side MOSFET is integrated into the device, resulting in a simple two terminal power solution that eliminates the need for an external MOSFET and can help save board space. The device is protected against over-current, short-circuit, and over-temperature conditions through a self-protection feature.The MAX16126TCC/V+T regulator controls the average output current using an external sense resistor between the VWS pin and ground. The voltage at the VWS pin is compared with the internal voltage reference to maintain a constant output voltage. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.6V to 7V by setting the amplitude of the voltage at the VWS pin and the output current level is adjustable from 0A to 2A by setting the value of the sense resistor.In addition to the DC-to-DC conversion capability, the MAX16126TCC/V+T also features a number of useful features such as temperature monitoring, controlled reset, fan control, and fault protection. The temperature monitor monitors the die temperature of the device and it can be configured to automatically shut down the device or lowers the switching frequency to reduce the dissipation power in order to help improve the thermal performance of the device. The MAX 16126TCC/V+T also features a controlled reset function that allows the device to automatically restart after a power failure. This feature works by virtually extending the duration of the reset signal to avoid unintentional resetting of the device after a power surge event. The MAX16126TCC/V+T also features a fan control function that enables the device to control a fan to adjust the speed of the fan based on the device’s temperature. The device can be configured to activate the fan when the temperature exceeds a certain threshold.Finally, the MAX16126TCC/V+T also provides over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature protection to protect the device from damage due to mis operation.In conclusion, the MAX16126TCC/V+T is a powerful and feature-rich DC-to-DC converter with integrated high-side MOSFET, voltage sense amplifier, controlled reset, temperature monitors and fault protection capabilities.
