The MAX1626ESA+ is a voltage-mode, 3-terminal, synchronous-rectified, step-down DC-DC controller. It features a 5A, 0.3Ω high-side MOSFET, with a wide 4.75V to 28V input voltage, and adjustable output voltages from 1.2V to 5V. The MAX1626ESA+ can deliver up to 10A of output current in 10μA of operating current with cycle-by-cycle current limit. The output voltage is adjustable with an external series resistor divider.

The MAX1626ESA+ consists of an Oscillator, Error Amplifier, Gate Driver, and Precision Voltage Reference. The on-chip oscillator and the external synchronization enable the desired switching frequency. The internal error amplifier senses the difference between the output and reference voltages. When the output voltage falls below the reference voltage, the error amplifier amplifies the voltage difference to the gate driver, which drives the power switch. The accurate current limit maintains a constant current limit level throughout the power range. In addition, the built-in 600mV reference allows the use of a simple resistor divider to set the output voltage.
