The MAX16910/V+T is a low power linear regulator specifically designed for µTCA.4 applications. This device combines a voltage regulator and digital temperature sensor in a single 18-pin QFN package. It operates from an input voltage of 2.3V to 3.6V, provides up to 900mA of output current, and delivers a regulated voltage with an accuracy of ±2%. The digital temperature sensor operates from an input range of -40 to +125°C, and these high accuracy sensors are used to reduce the power supply variation and reduce the output voltage variation due to the temperature change.
The MAX16910/V+T is based on a novel charge pump technology which combined with a low dropout regulator (LDO). In this dual-mode configuration, the charge pump provides power during large to moderate loading while the low dropout regulator provides power during light loading. This helps to reduce the output voltage variation despite large load current changes, while the regulator maintains full regulation at the lowest quiescent current possible. This makes the MAX16910/V+T an ideal choice for µTCA.4 applications with highly fluctuating loads and for designs that require an excellent line regulation performance.
The MAX16910/V+T contains an internal digital multi-channel temperature sensor with I2C-compatible two-wire control. The device also features over-temperature protection, over-voltage protection, and brown-out protection, as well as a thermal shutdown circuit. The device also contains an adjustable output voltage range that can be externally tuned to account for loading conditions, which also helps minimize component variation due to different loading conditions. In addition, the device includes an open-drain output for manual shutdown control.
The MAX16910/V+T is an ideal regulator solution for µTCA.4 applications. It is a low power, high accuracy linear regulator with an adjustable output voltage and integrated temperature sensor. It can provide excellent line regulation performance and reduce output voltage variation despite large load current changes.
