The MAX16913GEE+T is a high-voltage, high-precision, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator. It is designed as an automotive-grade device, which is AEC-Q100Grade 0 qualified and also compatible with Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) system requirements. The device can provide up to 11A of continuous load current while providing extremely low dropout voltage performance. The device also offers a wide input range of 4V to 40V and is capable of operating over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The device offers excellent load and line regulation, fast transient response and excellent temperature stability.

The MAX16913GEE+T is particularly suitable for automotive applications, including system voltage regulation, such as power supply for car navigation, satellite radio, rearview camera, and telematics interface, as well as light control and driver assistance systems. Working Principle

The MAX16913GEE+T is a low-dropout linear regulator designed to operate with a wide input range of 4V to 40V. The device combines a high performance voltage feedback loop and a high current power modulator to provide high accuracy, low noise and fast transient response for regulation of the output voltage. It also features an advanced low dropout voltage (LDO) biasing circuit to achieve very low dropout voltage performance. At the same time, the device includes a temperature compensated current limit circuit, a power-up/down sequence circuit, an overvoltage protection circuit and a wide range of programmable features to meet the high performance requirements of power management applications.

The device contains an error amplifier, a voltage reference and a power switch that are interconnected to form a closed loop feedback system. The error amplifier compares the output voltage to the reference voltage and then drives the power switch accordingly to maintain the output voltage within a certain range. When the output voltage exceeds the reference voltage, the error amplifier turns the power switch off and when the output voltage is below the reference voltage, the error amplifier turns the power switch on. The power switch is then turned off once the feedback loop is closed, thereby providing a stable output voltage. In addition, the device also includes a current limit circuit that limits the amount of current that can be drawn from the device, thus preventing excessive current from flowing through the circuit.
