The MAX16930ATLR/V+ is a switch-mode DC-DC power supply regulator and power manager typically used in communication and computing applications such as cellular phones, PDAs, laptop computers, servers and other portable electronics. The MAX16930ATLR/V+ is a non-synchronous switch-mode DC-DC regulator designed to provide various high-efficiency, high-current, low-output voltage modes from a wide input voltage range and effect the efficient power management system.
The MAX16930ATLR/V+ has a wide input voltage range from +4V to +30V, and can be configured to provide up to eight regulated outputs, including two 40MHz switching regulators, two low-noise analog LDOs, one SONIC™ low-currency tracking LDOs and three switched outputs. The wide input voltage range and high current output capability allow engineers to design highly efficient, low-power supply systems with lower component count. The MAX16930ATLR/V+ offers excellent performance over the operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
The MAX16930ATLR/V+ works by controlling a switch, which is powered by an inductor or transformer, to regulate the output voltage. At the beginning of the switching cycle, the switch is open and the input voltage is applied to the inductor or transformer. As the switch is closed, the magnetic field created by the inductor or transformer stores energy. When the switch is opened, the energy stored in the inductor or transformer is released, creating a regulated output voltage.
The MAX16930ATLR/V+ includes an on-chip power-on reset (POR) circuit and brown-out reset (BOR) circuit, which enables the device to be started or reset at any time. Additionally, the MAX16930ATLR/V+ features an on-board temperature sensor that can detect the total temperature of the system and regulate the internal temperature to prevent overheating.
