The MAX17077AETM+ is a precision, dual-channel Operational Amplifier (Op Amp) and Voltage Regulator with an ultra-low supply current and diverse range of applications. This device provides excellent performance with minimal power dissipation, operating on an ultra low 9mA of supply current per channel. Achieving high-precision results, the MAX17077AETM+ Op Amp and Voltage Regulator is capable of producing precision outputs of 1.5V or 5V, and its extremely low noise, low supply current, and low offset make it ideal for use in battery-powered and portable applications.
The MAX17077AETM+ Op Amp and Voltage Regulator is an ideal solution to replace existing two-channel linear regulators which require increased precision, improved DC-DC performance, or improved power margins. This device supports a wide range of inputs, allowing it to be used in voltage regulator applications, both linear and switched. It also supports high voltage rail applications, ideal for a wide range of modern DC supplies such as those used in digital still cameras and PC computers.
Linear regulators require two power sources: the input voltage to be regulated and the output voltage. The MAX17077AETM+ features the ability to offer both of these supply voltages from a single power rail. The MAX17077AETM+ contains a differential amplifier, current source, voltage reference and thermal protection circuitry, making it a complete solution for power management. The Op Amp output is capable of driving loads up to 250 mA for every channel.
The MAX17077AETM+ operates using a Low Dropout (LDO) technique. This technique operates in a feedback loop, meaning that the feedbacks received from the output are used to control the input voltage. The feedback is used by the MAX17077AETM+ to adjust the driver’s voltage supply according to the current demand from the output, allowing for highly efficient convergence between the input and output voltages. This provides very high power efficiency, allowing for a higher output voltage than would normally be possible for a traditional linear regulator.
The MAX17077AETM+ is a high precision device that is capable of producing ultra-low noise and extremely accurate output voltages. Using 0.1% accuracy over temperature, it is also capable of providing extremely low output noise from 0.5uV (pp) to 6uV (pp).
