The MAX17408GTI+T is designed to provide a wide range of power management functions required in Wearable applications. It features a segmented buck regulator, two DC/DC boost converters, two low quiescent current linear regulators, a buck-boost regulator, LDO and SimulReg/simulated Li-Ion battery charging. The segmented buck regulator ensures an ultra-low quiescent current and a high efficiency. The two DC/DC boost converters provide multiple step-ups for powering the various LCD, camera, audio, and other subsystems. The two low quiescent current linear regulators provide power for the high-speed Gate Drivers.

Further, the MAX17408GTI+T wears a unique feature, the SimulReg. The SimulReg enables designers to switch and control two separate output voltages with one shunt regulator. This feature eliminates the need for a separate shunt regulator, thereby minimizing PCB size and reducing the number of components required in the design. It also allows designers to power multiple applications with one SimulReg, thereby reducing the number of output channels.

The MAX17408GTI+T PMIC also provides advanced system monitoring functions that help designers monitor the health of their wearable devices. It features an integrated ADC with programmable alerts and alarms, as well as an embedded temperature sensor. Additionally, the MAX17408GTI+T features an advanced Active Discharge (AD) technology that helps reduce the device’s overall junction temperature.
