MAX17410GTM+T Application Field and Working Principle

The MAX17410GTM+T is a high-performance digital-power, voltage-regulator (PMIC-Voltage regulators-special purpose) family manufactured by Maxim Integrated. It is a triple-output regulator, providing a 1.3A high-efficiency, fast-transient response, with up to 17V of DC input, for a wide range of applications such as: motor drives, cell-phones, DSCs, and range of other consumer electronics.The MAX17410GTM+T has a wide voltage range with internal linear current limiting and high ripple noise immunity making it suitable for many applications. It is equipped with a programmable maximum current limit, and a µPowerShutdown™ mode. This allows for easier initial system setup, providing flexibility for a wide range of load conditions.This regulator family has several features that makes it stand out from the competition:•Wide input voltage range - The input voltage range is 17V and it can also be used with 24V systems when using the advanced external set point control.•High-efficiency - The high efficiency allows for lower input power dissipation and improved thermal management.•Programmable current limit - The internal current limit is programmable with an external sense resistor and a current-control loop.•Softstart current limit - When the voltage output is below the minimum current limit, the output voltage will slowly increase over time.•High ripple-noise immunity - The input capacitors reduce the ripple noise and there is a special feature for higher ripple immunity.•Flexible shutdown - Shutdown can be controlled by an external signal with a programmable input-disable delay, making the device more flexible in terms of power-save operations.The MAX17410GTM+T voltage regulator is ideal for powering multi-output system applications in mobile ICE, PC/peripheral, industrial and automotive applications. Its features make it ideal for mobile, high-end consumer, and industrial applications.The MAX17410GTM+T voltage regulator utilizes a number of technologies and techniques to deliver the desired performance of its applications. These include a resonant-mode PWM control, a voltage reference and current sensing circuit, softstart current limit, fault diagnostic capability and digital control logic.The MAX17410GTM+T has two operating modes. In the synchronous mode, a high-frequency oscillator is used to generate the PWM used to regulate the output voltage. In the asynchronous mode, the output voltage is regulated using a feedback loop that is controlled by an external resistor.In both modes, the MAX17410GTM+T uses a highly accurate voltage reference and current-sense circuit to monitor the output voltage and current-sense feedback signals. These signals are used to precisely regulate the output voltage. to ensure that the target voltage is reached and maintained.The MAX17410GTM+T also features a softstart circuit to limit the input voltage. This helps in reducing the inrush current at startup and eliminating output overshoot.The MAX17410GTM+T provides a wide range of protection features including over-temperature protection and over-voltage protection.
