Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) is an important technology in signal and image processing. The MAX174AEWI+ is a high performance 16bit and 200KSPS ADC that offers the highest level of data acquisition accuracy, resolution and speed.

The MAX174AEWI+ employs a unique 4th order sigma-delta modulator architecture, allowing it to achieve a dynamic range of more than 80dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 110dB at a maximum sampling rate of 200ksps. This ADC also features a built-in 1.6V reference and a low power consumption of only 1.6mW. With a power supply of only 1.6V, the device is also particularly suitable for low voltage applications.

MAX174AEWI+ Working Principle:

The MAX174AEWI+ is based on a fourth order sigma-delta modulator architecture. This architecture uses an oversampling sigma-delta technique to achieve high resolution and high speed without sacrificing performance. The device handles an analog signal by repeatedly sampling the input signal at a rate higher than the Nyquist rate. The device then uses a high-order finite impulse response filter to remove unwanted noise, allowing the output of the comparator to be accurately converted to a digital value.

At the heart of the MAX174AEWI+ is an analog-to-digital converter that uses a differential nonlinearity (DNL) architecture to reduce harmonic distortion and noise. The device includes a high-pass filter to cancel out undesirable signals and a low-pass filter to remove unwanted outlier signals. The high-pass filter is essential to the accuracy of the ADC and is used to ensure that only signals within the Nyquist frequency are collected.

The MAX174AEWI+ also includes an in-line sample-and-hold circuit which constant ly maintains the analog input at a consistent level. This helps reduce signal jitter and provides a clean form of data input for the ADC.

The MAX174AEWI+ integrates a low-power, low-noise differential input stage with a switch and sample-and-hold circuit.
