Working Principle
The MAX196ACWI is a successive approximation converter (SAR) which works by successively sampling the analog input and comparing it to an internal reference voltage. The number of cycles of comparison required for the reference voltage to reach the analog input is equivalent to the input voltage’s value.
To ensure the highest resolution possible from the device and to ensure compatibility with external devices, the MAX196ACWI supports both single-ended and differential input sampling. The device also support up to four differential analog inputs and up to 1500k samples/s conversion rate.
