Data Acquisition - Analog Front End (AFE) is a hardware and software designed to translate analog signals into the digital form required by other systems. The MAX19708ETM+T which is an AFE device, is an integrated BiCMOS circuit, which is designed to digitize up to eight channels of analog inputs. In addition, it also provides bidirectional data exchange, with the data acquired and eventually transmitted to an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter.

The MAX19708ETM+T Integrated AFE is a low power device with a low power consumption design which minimizes power consumption. It has a wide range of application fields from medical to industrial, automotive, and automotive-reference systems. In its medical applications, the device is used in ecg, EEG and pacemakers for monitoring and recording of signals. In automotive applications, it is used in vehicle navigation, powertrain and stability systems for monitoring and data acquisition.

The MAX19708ETM+T provides up to 14-bit resolution, a maximum sampling rate of 150kHz, and a wide bandwidth from DC to 30kHz. The AFE has two sets of programmable amplification stages. The first stage is used to amplify the input signals before they are digitized by the A/D converter. The second stage is used to adjust the scale factor of the input signal before it is sent to the A/D converter. The AFE also features a programmable digital filter, which can be used to filter D.C. offsets, noise and other unwanted signals.

The MAX19708ETM+T device’s primary function is to receive analog signals and convert them into digital signals.
