<p>The MAX20731EVKIT is an evaluation board (EV) designed by Maxim Integrated, for testing and evaluating the performance of the MAX20731 high-voltage switching regulator. It is typically used for testing and evaluating the performance of DC/DC & AC/DC (off-line) SMPS (switchingmode power supplies) such as for powering automotive and industrial applications. The MAX20731EVKIT helps designers evaluate the robustness and reliability of the MAX20731 for various load interaction scenarios.The MAX20731EVKIT is basically a switching regulator with two power stages, an AC/DC power converter, which converts high voltage AC power to low voltage DC, and a step-up DC/DC converter which provides power to the load. The two power stages working together form a buck-boost SMPS.The MAX20731EVKIT uses a MAX20731 high-voltage switching regulator to control each power stage. The MAX20731 is a high efficiency switchmode synchronous regulator designed for high input voltage and low output voltage applications. The MAX20731 regulator has an adjustable switching frequency of 300kHz to 600kHz, and an adjustable output voltage range of 3.3V to 24V.The MAX20731EVKIT also includes an over-voltage protection circuit which uses the MAX20731’s programmable over-voltage protection pin tied to a low-voltage reference to protect the device from over-voltage scenarios.The MAX20731EVKIT features a user interface, such as a USB connector which allows designers to adjust various settings and monitor the status of the switching regulator. The user interface also enables users to tune the operating parameters of the MAX20731 for a wide range of output voltages and currents, as well as control the switching frequency.The MAX20731EVKIT also has an on-board current-limiting circuit which helps protect the system from overcurrent conditions. The on-board current-limiting circuit can be programmed with a variety of values to protect the system from overcurrent.The MAX20731EVKIT also features an on-board temperature-sensing circuit which allows designers to monitor the temperature of the MAX20731 power stage.The MAX20731EVKIT also supports monitoring of the status of the output load.
