The main application field of MAX211CDW is to provide TTL/CMOS-compatiblepulse/data recoverycircuits that replace a multitude of parallel bus transceivers. The traditional TTL/CMOS input level threshold (VIH/VIL) is used. The MAX211CDW can withstand data rates up to 20 Mhz and is therefore ideal for multiplexers, demultiplexers, data scramblers, decoders, addressers, scramblers, and data recovery. Typical applications include data transmission between PC cards and microprocessors, as well as between ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) and microcontrollers.

The MAX211CDW operates on a 2.7V - 5.5V power supply. The integrated output is open drain NMOS. The data input and data output, as well as the control inputs are CMOS/TTL compatible.The MAX211CDW supports both serial and parallel data transmission and reception over the single differential input/output data port. The device is able to receive and transmit data from 0.3 to 5.3V levels. The output of the device is capable of sinking several mA of current and is compatible with TTL, CMOS, and LVTTL logic.

The MAX211CDW contains an integrated control circuit which allows for the automatic switching of logic levels between transmission and reception modes. The integrated control circuit is designed to terminate conversations without manual intervention. It is equipped with a data valid output signal that indicates that valid data is present at the input of the device. The data valid indication on the output is triggered when valid data is present at the input of the device.

The working principle of MAX211CDW is quite simple. The device takes in TTL/CMOS level data from the data input port and sends it out through the output port.
