MAX213EWI Application Field and Working Principle
The MAX213EWI is a unique device for Interface – Drivers, Receivers and Transceivers. It is a low-cost, reduced-power serial interface Controller. This device is designed to enable powerful and efficient serial communication between a host processor and other devices like Disk Drives, Printers, Modems and Video Cameras. The MAX213EWI is available in a package of 16-pins SOIC. The primary application of the MAX213EWI is to help programmer bring up applications quickly and inexpensively. It routinely works in three simplest modes such as point-to-point, half-duplex or full-duplex at speeds of up to 200Kbps. This device provides minimum FIFO buffering, error detection and handling with its onchip RAM. Moreover, It offers 26 General I/O for numerous applications.The MAX213EWI can be used to transfer data through multiple protocols, such as: asynchronous start/stop, XON/XOFF, 7/8 bit data, 1/1.5/2 stop bits, no parity and odd/even parity. It offers support for common serial interface functions including serial-reception error checking, automatic-error correction, receive-data filtering and serial pattern detection. Other uses of MAX213EWI are handshake functions, a Universal-Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) and status registers. The Working principles of the MAX213EWI is powered by a 3.3V, drawing 50mW in operation and an average of 50uA in standby mode. The device has a universal configuration based on predefined script files, which are used to setup the environment with all the required I/O configuration. It contains a powerful 8-bit Omnipotent Core Core and also features a multi-protocol engine. The device has 16 logic-levels channels, 6 of which are used to transmit and receive data, while the remaining 10 can be used as general purpose I/O.The MAX213EWI also provides the ability to detect serial patterns and provides support for a wide range of serial and parallel communications protocols. It also supports a variety of communication media: RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 and V.35. In addition, the MAX213EWI has a built-in UART and an on-chip RAM for data storage and buffering.The MAX213EWI also includes an 8-Channel, 1.2V to 3.3V translator between logic, bus and transceiver core elements. The device provides an integrated multi-protocol interface and power efficient design, allowing designers to develop their own applications quickly and efficiently. The device also takes ease of use to a higher level, because it is configured by simple commands in a script file. Furthermore, the MAX213EWI features an always-on interface which allows 24-hour service to respond immediately to any communication necessary. There is no need to power up or activate the module, which considerably shortens the time to transfer data.
