The MAX216CWN is a component in the family of transceivers, drivers, and receivers. It is a low-power, low-voltage, CMOS device which can connect devices with incompatible signaling environments and ensure compatibility with a variety of digital systems. The MAX216CWN is used to provide full-duplex communications between systems having different electrical characteristics, and is ideal for power, audio, and digital sensor applications.The MAX216CWN is offered in four 19-pin packages and is a multi-channel, CMOS logic device. It has an 8-bit μP bus interface, three differential I/O channels, one differential bidirectional channel, and two half-duplex bidirectional channels. Each I/O channel is capable of handling either 3-state TTL or CMOS signals and is independent of the other channels.The MAX216CWN has a wide range of features which make it ideal for many applications. It supports bi-directional data flow on two channels, and can provide a differential input or output on three other channels. It has built-in forward and reverse channel level shifting, allowing for compatibility between systems operating at different voltages. The MAX216CWN also includes a unique data status line which indicates when data is present on the channels, providing an easy way to detect data presence. It also includes a busy flag bit that can be used to indicate when the data bus is busy. The MAX216CWN also incorporates a wake-up reset circuit to ensure that the device is always initialized properly when power is applied.The working principle of the MAX216CWN is quite simple.
