The MAX2644EVKIT RF Evaluation and Development Kit, Boards is a complete system for measuring the electrical performance of high-frequency RF power amplifiers (PAs) in cellular, WiFi and other wireless standards. It provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) and an automated system for quickly evaluating PA performance from basic device characterization all the way up to final performance validation.
Maxim Integrated\'s MAX2644EVKIT is an ideal tool for analyzing a wide range of devices from low power RF CMOS designs to high power GaN designs. It includes a range of ICs, including 2 stage power amplifiers, amplifiers with low noise amplifiers (LNAs) and variable-gain amplifiers (VGAs). The kit also contains test load resistors, bias resistors, switches, and other components for implementation of the designed system.
Features of the MAX2644EVKIT includes a wide range of frequencies from 800 MHz to 8 GHz, automatic gain control, harmonic distortion cancellation, programmable gain and bias settings, and fast and accurate electrical performance measurements.
First, it consists of a PC-graphical user interface on the main GUI with intuitive buttons, navigation and interactive charts for easier configuration and control. This allows users to quickly draw design specification and evaluate the performance of the designs. The kit also provides automated PA configuration, characterization and optimization, measurement calibration data and automated PA performance summary.
The MAX2644EVKIT is composed of four components: the PA, the power amplifier manager (PAM), the microcontroller (MCU), and the SPI/I2C interface. These four components can be used to analyze the performance of the RF power amplifier from different aspects. The PA is responsible for amplifying and driving signal through the power amplifier, the PAM manages the PA configuration, the MCU can be used for controlling signals and testing measurement points, and the SPI/I2C interface provides communication between the components.
The MAX2644EVKIT is also equipped with several development boards for quicker and easier prototyping. These include:
- The MAX2644DRVPA EV Board which contains PA drivers, switches, pull push resistors, terminations and other components to quickly set up and evaluate Maxim Integrated\'s PAs.
- The MAX2644DRVPAVA EV Board which contains magnetic coupling, DC-DC converters and other components to evaluate the devices.
- The MAX2644DRVPAFEMV EV Board which contains RF relay switches, baluns and other components to evaluate PA performance.
- The MAX2644DRVPAFEMH EV Board which contains amplifiers and attenuators to measure performance of the devices.
In addition to the development boards, the MAX2644EVKIT also includes up to three attenuators, switches, baluns, power transformers, termination boards, load boards, calibration boards, and other components for evaluating the power amplifier device to its fullest. Likewise, the kit includes several software applications, such as a power amplifier configuration and control software, a power amplifier noise figure measurement software, a frequency transfer software, and a balun optimization software.
The MAX2644EVKIT is a powerful and user-friendly tool intended for a wide range of applications, including transceiver and power amplifier performance testing, wireless communications testing and product development, general wireless RF signal analysis, and antenna design. It is an optimal tool for quickly setting up and accurately evaluating Maxim Integrated\'s PAs and transceivers.
